large leatherbound book of verses presented to a schoolboy on leaving Eton; includes tipped in pictures of Eton; with marbled endpapers and AEG; a hand-wriitten poem (called 'Vale' and about a schoolboy's life) laid in; previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown; mainly English language, but there is also some Greek and Latin; scattered foxing to prelims and occasionally to pages; spine and covers are rubbed; front cover is detached but present; the binding on the spine is detached from front hinge but still attached to rear hinge; the binding is split across the the fourth (of five) raised band on the spine, but the binding on the spine is still complete and pages are tightly bound; scattered foxing to prelims and occasionally to pages; in spite of the faults described the main body of the book is in good/very good condition for its age
